Erudio student loan deferment and child maintenance payments as income

Help! Telephone lines for Erudio are closed on Bank Holidays and I'm panicking a bit...
My student loan dates from the early 90s. I've always deferred as my income has always been well under the threshold. However I've recently split from my partner and on filling out the latest deferment form, if I put in the child maintenance payments he pays me I am over the latest income threshold by a few hundred pounds.

My personal earnings haven't changed. It's just that what I now receive as child maintenance is a similar amount to what my ex used to pay towards the mortgage, bills etc directly. I still have all those bills, he just pays the money into my account instead to cover it as I'm still the family home with the existing expenditure.

Will this still count as his earnings and not mine? It seems odd that Universal Credit will ringfence this maintenance payment and not Erudio. The payment is genuinely needed, it's not extra?
TIA
