Unused childcare vouchers- what to do with them

I gave around £300 in used childcare vouchers and 2 teens who would not be seen dead anywhere I can use them. My employer wont refund them. Any idea what I can do with them?

Can you do a deal with a relative or colleague???

MrsAukerman · 22/04/2019 21:19

Music lessons? Pretty sure they count.

Sports / summer play schemes sometimes accept them.

You can claim the money back. I have done this a while ago. You have to contact the company who issue the vouchers and get a refund form. I think then it had to go via my HR dept back to the company.
I explained that I didn't use after school care anymore as nobody provides this for high school age kids and that there are no holiday schemes either. My HR were initially reluctant and told me you can claim it back until they are 18 but they were wrong!

Oops! *can't claim

There was a Q&A about this which said:

15. Can I get a refund for unused Childcare Vouchers?

Whether you can receive a salary alternative to vouchers you have accrued will depend on the conditions of the scheme determined by your employer in the agreement you signed up to. Please consult those conditions and discuss them with your employer if necessary. It is quite common that employers’ schemes do not allow for this.
However, as Childcare Vouchers can be used for out of school and holiday clubs for children up to the age of 15, you may well be able to get further use of any vouchers you have built up.

PGL holidays take them.

Varies by scheme but some can be refunded via your employer
