Universal credit child element question

Workingmumdad2 · 17/04/2019 18:23

Hi first post, so forgive me if not perfect.

I wanted to ask who has claimed universal credit with a child element.

I am just coming off tax credits and changing onto universal. My partner works full time but i only work part time, we also have two children 2 and 5.

I know they take money off the work entitlement but wanted to know if the child element gets deducted aswell.

Just wanting to know so i can budget wisely.

Thank you.

It’ll be deducted from your whole Universal Credit award. The work allowance has risen too- £287 if you have housing costs and £503 if you do not

All your elements are added together then wages reduce your whole award. Your work allowance is disregarded from wages then after that wages reduce your uC by 63p in the pound.
