Do you have any favourites? I was looking for something free that can connect to my Halifax bank account. :)

Money Dashboard. Budget are easy to set up, you can use their categories or add your own, and you get full analysis as you go of your spending habits.

Nice one thanks for the suggestion! I have been using YNBA before, but kinda bored.

I did some research over the weekend and found these other ones, let me know your thoughts.

Emma
Yolt
MoneyHub

I am currently trialing them all to then pick one. I love the tone and colours of Emma though.

Hi Highlander93, please can I check which app you preferred. How safe is it to give these apps access to my bank account? Thx

userxx · 07/01/2020 13:32

I'm using Emma and liking it. Coffee999 have a read up on it, its safe, i was wary too.

I've tried pretty much ALL the budgeting apps. Personally I think, by a very long way, YNAB is the best one. The main reason being that the others are not very good at categorising new transactions (based on previous categories) and so I spent an inordinate amount of time categorising. Which was time consuming and, as a result, I didn't keep up with.

With YNAB you can't do automatic uploads of transactions in the UK but even with having to do this manually I still spend much less time than with the other apps and have much greater control over my money and budget.

I like Money Dashboard, it works great with Halifax bank. Loads of categories and easy to add more.

userxx · 07/01/2020 14:11

How much is YNAB ?

MiniMum97 · 07/01/2020 14:48

YNAB works out about £5 pcm but you have to pay annually. I think they do a free year for students.

Coffee999 · 07/01/2020 20:49

Thank you everyone. Is it better to pay for an app or are the free ones safe and good?

userxx · 08/01/2020 13:07

I think you need to try a few out Coffee and see which suits you. The paid ones usualy have more features. The free ones are as secure as the paid for appls.
