So 5 Direct Debits, bounced- does that mean, I have to pay 5 charges? They like £37 each - money late from client very unusual

Depends on the bank you are with. They may have a cap on how many they will charge for. The companies may also retry for the direct debits in a few days

So it be 37 prob 3
Then few days time same so ongoing

The payment is delayed till 5 April Forst time in 6 years

Can you charge the client for this?

If you pay money in to bring the account back in credit, and their charges make you go overdrawn so the d/d bounces again, and so on and so on - no, they aren't supposed to do that.

The costs can't be passed on only interest added to the bill under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act
