Valuation for Remortgage

Do many lenders actually come out for a valuation for a remortgage or do it online?

We have just remortgaged, and yes they came out to do a valuation on our house. My sister also remortgaged at the same time and they came out to view her flat too. Different lenders, same procedure. I actually felt like they were more thorough with the remortgage valuation than they were when they valued our last property to be sold!

They came out to us, we still have a fairly high LTV, not sure if that makes a difference. It was good though as they valued it quite a bit higher than the desk based HPI one done at our current lender.

They didn't come out to us when we re mortgaged last month, guess we under valued?

Ours was just an online valuation. Came out higher than we were expecting. It was Barclays, if that makes a difference.
