sassypants101 · 07/03/2019 14:45

I've got a £20 voucher for M&S and just wondering how far it will go to feed my family? Can I get a couple of meals out of it?
I have 4 and 7 year old a very hungry DP.
Let me know what you think!

Not much at all!

BlueMerchant · 07/03/2019 14:49

No more than two meals though.

Hot4Holes · 07/03/2019 14:49

Depends what you want to buy. You could get a fair amount of tinned stuff but not so much the pre prepped chilled meals.

Singlenotsingle · 07/03/2019 14:49

Probably but choose carefully. Don't forget to have a look at their Frozen food which can be good value and tasty. Unfortunately M&S are our nearest grocery shop so I tend to drop in there when I'm feeling lazy.

QuantamBaby · 07/03/2019 14:49

You can get a couple of meals out of it definitely! Just don't choose stuff from the caviar, fillet steak and champagne aisle. Smile

MuffinMad · 07/03/2019 14:51

I would wait till they do their 'dine in' deals.

They're usually £10.

FleeceDetective · 07/03/2019 14:52

You can get about 6/8 chicken breasts for £10.

I’d aim to head there at yellow discount sticker time to maximise what you can get.

Changingweather · 07/03/2019 14:52

In the "dine in for 2 for £10" deals you can often get a whole chicken. That would feed a family of 4 for £10. You have to choose the sides carefully, so go for bulky ones rather than the fancier ones, but we've fed 4 for £10 before. You could do it twice so 2 dine in for £10. The whole chicken is Def what goes furthest. And the deal is not always on...but if you time it right :)

FleeceDetective · 07/03/2019 14:53

Oh and the chicken breasts are individually wrapped so easily frozen.

Ninkaninus · 07/03/2019 14:54

I’d do the £10 for three meat items deal, if they’ve got it on at the moment, or some sort of combination of meat/sausages/fish on whatever deals I could find. Their chicken Kievs are lovely but expensive. Leftover £10 would definitely buy potatoes, veg, whatever sides you want. I could make it work for two meals for 4 people, for sure.

I could probably make it stretch to three or four meals if I tried hard enough, but it would be a stretch...

PickAChew · 07/03/2019 14:55

Use it on the 3 for a tenner meat then buy other ingredients somewhere cheaper.

Littlebelina · 07/03/2019 14:55

They often have meat packs on 3 for a tenner. Or a takeaway meal deal (2 mains, 2 sides) for a £10 which might stretch if you do your own rice and your kids don't have massive appetites.

Or wait until they yellow sticker stuff.

ducky21 · 07/03/2019 14:56

I would spend it on a nice piece of meat or several pieces of meat with it and then get the trimmings somewhere else like a bag of potatoes and carrots from asda. Enjoy!

Ninkaninus · 07/03/2019 14:56

Or I’d do two lots of carefully chosen two can dine for £10 deals. But that would be less value for money and certainly not as much food for the hungry DP.

redwinegaga · 07/03/2019 14:59

If you go to an M&S food early in a morning, they reduce the items that go out of date that day. If you don't want to use it, most of it can be frozen. Otherwise the stir fry deal is well worth the money. A pack of meat, a pack of stir fry veg, a pack of noodles and a sauce all for £6. Would be enough for 2 adults or 2 kids with big appetites.......my two love them. The packs come in all different kinds of flavours and meat as well

MNSDKHheroines · 07/03/2019 15:02

Easy. Go look for the stir fry deal. You get big bag of stir fry veg, packet of meat/prawn/tofu, choice of noodles & a sauce. For a family of 4 I would buy a second pack of the meat. That would be £10 in total. www.marksandspencerfoodhall.co.uk/offers/stir-fry-deal-6

The 1.5kg lasagne is £7 so could have that plus garlic bread or some salad/veg.

Go look at the meat section. There is often a 3 for £10 offer on things like sausages, breaded fish & chicken.

MNSDKHheroines · 07/03/2019 15:03

x post!

anniehm · 07/03/2019 15:07

Depends on what you buy, you could buy the ingredients for 3 pasta meals but only one steak.
