Has anybody ever had to attend one of these and if so, I'm after some advice?

What's happened?

The advice you need will depend on your situation and how well you have actually been complying with the requirements.

Babyroobs · 24/02/2019 16:04

They will just ask you about your situation. if you are claiming as single and they suspect you have a partner living with you they may want evidence of his address and that he doesn't contribute to bills. They may want to see bank statements etc.

Mellodrama · 24/02/2019 16:10

It's a very confusing one! The lady on phone said it's re an ISA with the NatWest that contains over 10k - my mum has this ISA, and both me AND mum share the same name (Christian AND my maiden name), though I am known on everything as my married name.

My mum had her ISA statements redirected to my address for a brief period of time, but that's all!

How the heck has this been flagged up as mine, when it's actually my mums ISA - her details, DOB, etc? Hmm

I know I'm not doing anything wrong, but I suffer from severe Anxiety and am worried the DWP may think it IS my money that I may've gotten mum to stash! I wish!!

I'd ask why her ISA statements were coming to your house. Especially if no other mail was.

Other than that, it all sounds above-board (which I'm sure it is).

Highfever · 24/02/2019 16:13

If that the true account then nothing to worry about.

Highfever · 24/02/2019 16:16

Can your mum attend with you? She might need to give consent for an application to bank to obtain date of birth on Isa application

Mellodrama · 24/02/2019 17:19

Yeah, mum is coming with me, in fact she's absolutely fuming that the DWP told me the amount within the ISA (though I knew anyway, this could've potentially caused a lot of trouble if she hadn't wanted me knowing).

Yes - all a true account. I would never do anything fraudulently die to my extreme anxiety (and of course, morals Wink)

Banks are required by law to report the address held for customers to HMRC.

Highfever · 25/02/2019 12:53

They shouldn't have disclosed financial info outside of interview having prompted you with some questions first to ascertain if simple explanation likely or indeed fraud.

Mellodrama · 25/02/2019 16:22

@Highfever Exactly why my mum is fuming! She was advised today at the CAB that the DWP have indeed made a breach of data protection. They have brought my interview forward to tomorrow (I think mums voicemail to them helped Wink), so I will provide an update tomorrow!
