Uni and universal credit?

carly2803 · 23/02/2019 18:00

I want to go to uni when baby is one, I know the loans/childcare help you can get from uni - but what about universal credit?

Would I still be entitled to this?

Also - do I need to work as well as study to get universal credits?

Im not afraid of hard work! Just wondering what is best

Anyone help?!

Thanks :)

Usually not if you're on a full time course.

As you are a parent you will still get universal credit, but your student loans are classed as income so will be knocked off your entitlement.

Your maintenance loans will be divided by the number of months they are designed to cover and then the first£110 per month is disregarded. After that they reduce your Uc amount pound for pound.

Thanks all.
I will get the now basic 8700 a year plus parents allowance. So we'll under the 20k a year or whatever it is cut off.

I'm not even sure how much I will get universal credit. It's baffling !!
