csa child maintanance

I just received a letter from the csa (child support agency) informing me that they are going to write off the debt that my child's father owes. he owes my son over £2000 in arrears and underpayments etc. he isn't paying anything towards my son at the moment, another battle I have to fight. I don't think it is fair that he does not have to pay what he owes. has anybody been through similar and managed to have the decision overturned? the form to send off if you wish them to look at the case again asks for all the fathers details including address and employment details which I do not have as he has stopped all contact, I feel like i'm stuck and my son is now not going to get what he is rightfully owed, meanwhile he still isn't paying for the son he helped to create :-(
sorry about the rant but I just feel that it is so unfair that he does not have to pay for his own son

I got one of these letters this morning too. Mine didn’t even have a form. They’re permanently writing the debt off 🙄 just a shame it’s because he refuses to work and not because he did society a favour and died.

Don't they need your permission to pay off debt? Why can't they find the father through HMRC? Can you transfer to cms and then they pursue the case for you? Seems so unfair on your and your DC to write the money off.
