Updating UC worries

I start a new job tomorrow and will update UC in the morning but I'm worried this is going to mess up future payments? I know this means I might get less (only part time work) UC which is fine but I don't want there to be any problems where we may end up being overpaid and owing them money? Has anyone else had this experience and can I ask what happened? Tia

One of the few good things about Uc is that it is based on real time so you shouldn't get overpayments. Any earnings reported by your employer within your assessment period will reduce your UC amount for that month. The more you earn the less Uc you get. It will automatically calculate on a monthly basis so overpayments like people frequently got with tax credits should be a thing of the past ( in theory ! ).
