Tax Credit Child Care Check

So basically get a letter through today saying your childcare seems high can you send us relevant documentation. Not a problem I think as my youngest attends nursery she gets the 30 hours and then I pay for a full day the oldest goes to school breakfast club and holiday club. I spoke to hmrc on online chat as when I was adding childcare to my claim I didn’t have a clue how to work it out so I told them what I paid a week and they did it or so I thought. I only started paying childcare In August last year the letter states that they want evidence from July 8 to be precise well I didn’t claim any childcare then. And when I looked through my paperwork they sent me I used read and filled turns out that that my weekly cost of they have down is 25 a week higher than what I worked it out on that calculator thing. I’m so angry with myself as I thought by letting the tax credit people work it out it would be right. Lesson learnt I know exactly what I’ve done I’ve put down what the cost is for nursery for one day a week what they charge not taking anything off of it. So I’m going to send all the info off and hope for the best I know I am going to have to pay it back but how long does a check normally take thanks in advance

It's usually fairly quick, I had my childcare costs checked a couple of years ago and it didn't take long - a couple of weeks after I sent the info in. They will reduce your ongoing payments to recover the overpayment.
