does anyone know what my sil may be entitled to claim . she is about 52 and has worked for a long time as alegal secretary but got made redundant about 4yrs ago . since then she has been temping whenever she can get work but it is sporadic to say the least . she has been told that she cant claim JSA as she earnt insufficient last year (3k) and is unable to claim anything else as she ash savings of about £19K which she has aved since starting work as she has no occupational pension . i think she is above the threshold for IS therfore . she is living like a church mouse and hardly buying any food , no clothes etc and not going out . obvioulsy have offered to lend her some but she refuses . i wonder if teh answer is for ehr to get below the threshold and then claim JSA /IS . she is single and has a mortgage of about £30k . i would love to help her but am terrified of getting it wrong and making her worse off if that is possible! any advice gratefully received xx
