To be brief , abusive relationship ended last year, I'm left with 3 DC, not getting what I should be financially from exdh , the CMS are saying it could take until April to get the right amount from him. Tax credits say they overpaid me , I'm waiting for my p45 so I can check they have it right but now means I'm 400 a month down from them, i just spoke to my HA about my rent they have agreed to reduce it whilst I'm waiting for my HB claim to go through but stupidly I didn't realise the rent DD went out today and I've also made a 300 card payment ! I'm at the end of my overdraft , I don't know what I'm going to do 😪😪

Could you ask tax credits to reduce the overpayment repayments to a manageable level?

Ta1kinPeace · 28/01/2019 15:28

Talk to the Tax Credits people and tell them that until you have seen your P45 you dispute their figures
and thus to reduce the clawback

Chickenedout · 28/01/2019 15:30

Thing is if their figures are correct then I will be in the same boat

How much will the HB offset the rent - as in if the rent is being covered - backdated presumably - you'll be better off

also, talk to your nank and let them know. THey might give you a bit of leeway

LovingLola · 28/01/2019 15:38

You posted last week about your chances of conceiving after having IUD in for years.
Please don’t even think of adding a new baby to the financial straits you are in now.

Ta1kinPeace · 28/01/2019 15:48

Agreed

Chickenedout · 28/01/2019 19:15

No I won't be , we may possibly in two years time , the bank hasn't said anything about the overdraft. I'm not.sure how much HB I will get as of yet. It's so hard, this is why I was so dubious of getting out of an abusive marriage as I knew o would struggle, new dp has no idea what mess I'm in

Then get yourself back onto long term contraception until your finances are tickety boo.
And why on earth have you not told your new man what is going on
sorry OP
unimpressed

Gazelda · 28/01/2019 20:23

You were right to get out of an abusive marriage. You will get straight and you will manage.
But talk to tax credits ASAP and I think you need to be open with your DP.

Chickenedout · 29/01/2019 07:44

I will call tax credits later , it's a nightmare

Isleepinahedgefund · 29/01/2019 12:02

Tax credits will be using the information your employer has reported directly to HMRC each month, so the figure they have used is very, very, likely to be correct and your P45 won’t change anything.

I hope you’re not expecting anyone on here to give you money.

Chickenedout · 29/01/2019 14:54

Why would I expect that !? I will get through it as I have to , was just asking advise really.
