Hello just looking to see if anyone had any success stories of going on universal credit ? My partner just lost his job so it's looking like we will have to go on it while he looks for work,I'm 27 weeks pregnant with our second child so doubt I'd get employed, panicking about it all due to all the horror stories

First thing it's advisable to do is do a check on entitled to or turn2us website to see what you'd be entitled to. It's well worth putting in your indentation then you know what to expect.

You can start a claim online, one of the difficulties most people encounter is the id. It's tricky even with the relevant id. So if you have passport/driving licence, it can be do but requires a bag of patience.

Once the online claim has been completed, you'll have to attend a first appointment. If you're unable to submit all information online you'll attend a further evidence interview. It may also be that at this you'll sign your claimant commitment. (Happens in our area)

Any work commitments will be agreed for your husband.

You may qualify for an advance which the work coach will offer you if you're eligible. This can be paid immediately and you'll be offered a 3/6/12 month repayment option that will be deducted automatically.

If you're claiming housing element, make sure you take your tenancy agreement if you're renting.

@BabyRoobs may be along. She can clarify/correct/add any further information you may find useful.

Good luck.
