I think Santander lost one of my late fathers accounts

I had power of attorney and noticed an account worth a few thousands disappeared while he was still alive but no longer managing his own affairs. Or rather a few thousands disappeared out of the account. I did ask for an explanation but it never made sense to me. 5ey said it went into another of his accounts. Horror of horrors, my brother had the same name and address and the accounts got mixed up for a while so some ended up in my bros account . However that does not account for the amount that went missing.
I want to write to them now especially in the light of recent events and the missing accounts of deceased persons which has been in the news. Going into my branch has got me nowhere.
Is there a particular dept I within Santander I should write to? Thank you.

So if the account still exists and it is just the balance that has unexpectedly reduced, can you get copy statements and see where it had gone?

The account will have been closed down during probate and the contents distributed. It was before my father died that money went missing. I need to k ow who to speak to as in branch they just seem to flail around.

I had issues with Santander and had to go to Ombudsman. Think you need to go down complaints route first though. No-one knew what they were doing there - Ombudsman ruled in my favour, never got the compensation but did at least get the money back.

Santander are awful.
If you get nowhere after writing to them you could try one of the Sunday papers consumer pages.

Thanks everyone, I think I need to escalate it as a written complaint.
