Child support amount from ex

Just broke up with my Ex & we ve 2 kids together. Me in full time higher education and not working but he is working earning at least £28,000 per year. The kids are living with me full time and no arrangements set up for them to visit him at his mothers place yet (I hope that never happens as the place is not conducive).
Can any tell me roughly how much he should be paying me for the children pls?

Put his salary into the CMS calculator. It helps if you have access to his payslips or know how much his gross weekly income is (excluding any pension payments). If you know about his pension then take that off the 28k, divide what's left by 52 and put that in. There are a few other factors like how many overnights he has then but just put the answers in, it's v easy. If the figure sounds about right to you, suggest that to him.. If its agreeable its much better to just deal with it between you. Do remember though that that is the minimum he MUST pay and on 28k its unlikely to cover 50% of the kids costs so depending on how things are between you you might ask for him to pay 50% of uniform, childcare costs, big expenses etc. Are you married? If so that changes things enormously.

Thanks for the reply I do sincerely appreciate it. We were never married but lived together for 10years and I was covering most of the cost of everything. How does the marriage/cohabiting status affect things pls.
