Adding Spouse to Mortgage

Hi There

I'm just about to remortgage originally I was the only one on the mortgage and deeds now I want to add my DH.

Went to the Bank today and they have said that he would need to be added to title deeds and the legal costs would be roughly £600. I was just wondering if anyone else had any experience of this and or if you can have the land registry amended yourself for the £40 fee or is there much more to it ?

It has to go through a solicitor, hence the cost.

It has to be done through a solicitor. Depending on the value of the property there may also be a stamp duty liability.
