Hi me and my partner receive universal credit. I am on maternity leave and he does 16 hours a week. We are due to move house in February as this house is simply to small. My Dad has had to front the money to help us for this new house. Anyway we currently get the housing element as well. The area we are moving to is also universal credit so will anything be affected obviously will update rent amount which will be more. I was wondering cos I'm moving to a different area will this affect my UC amount or will it stay the same??

If its a bigger house and has more bedrooms than they deem you to need then you possibly wont get more rent element as they will only pay the local authority rate for the number of bedrooms you need assuming its a private rental. If the area you are moving to is more expensive then they may not pay the extra. I'm not sure whether you get the two bed rate before a baby turns one?
