Housing association not through council

I've been on my council housing list for 4 years (No priority). Me and my husband are paying off debts, mine £3000, his £16000 left (he was a v v v dumb 20 year old) so basically we and our LO live at my mum's and we want to move out...

I'm not the type to get her to write an eviction letter and I know I can still wait years for a council place so we have signed applied to 'homes direct and 'homehunt ( the England one) I have been accepted onto homes direct under band B and waiting for Peabody HA to give me my band for homehunt

So my question is, has anyone used either of these? And if so, how long did you wait?
Also, anybody dealt directly with peabody? How long did it take you with them?
I assume HA also have long lists but I saw a flat I liked and only 21 people applied for it
We can't private rent because of our low credit scores/No references/No guarantor plus paying off debts, me in my final year of my bachelors, only working part time and him full time...
TIA

Most Housing Associations usually allocate according to the LA housing policy. So it is exactly the same as if you are applying for council housing.

Yes most councils sold off all or most of their council housing to housing associations years ago so its essentially the same thing.
