Sick Pay on temporary contract?

I started a temporary contract 4 weeks ago. It ends in 3 weeks. It's a job where I am constantly on my feet for 9 hours a day. I have a fit bit and easily do 20 000 steps whilst there. Today I managed to break 2 toes by walking into the stairs. They've very badly bruised and swollen and although tolerable when sitting, any walking is agony. I'll be calling into work sick tomorrow to explain. However since I've been told it could take at least 4 weeks to heal, I assume I may not be returning? I don't want to seem greedy but I was relying on this to get us through Christmas. Does anyone know if I would at least be entitled to statutory sick pay for the 3 weeks I would have continued working or because it's such an short contract do I have no right? Annoying they said they would be taking on a few people as permanent after Christmas but I'm gonna guess I won't be in with a chance now.

www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay/eligibility seems to say you'd be eligible
