Christmas savings

Does anyone save with a Xmas club? We have saved for Xmas through work for the last 15 years or so but now it has stopped. I'm keen to start another plan as I can't trust myself not to dip into the money if it's accessible? Tia

I feel your pain, ours stopped to. I had an old Nationwide account which I put the money into instead, it’s the type which has a passbook, no card or anything so you have to go into the branch to withdraw, leave the book at home so I’m not tempted, I put a bit extra in to cover Birthdays as well. Working better for me as have been able to go Christmas shopping earlier this year.

I do Park xmas savings, monthly payment straight from my account works well for us.

I like the sound of the savings account where you have to go into the branch! That could work!

How about a regular savings account? You'll probably have to open one soon for it to finish in time for next Christmas and while some do allow access, it's not straightforward so hard to dip into. Usually the best available rate of interest too and some banks might actually do a Christmas saver account like this.

I'd never do any sort of voucher savings scheme unless it's protected in some way, one went bust a few years ago and people lost money.
