My husband will be leaving our home in a few weeks as he's a cheating bastard. I currently work part time and will need to apply for universal credit in order to cover some bills etc.
Does anyone know if I can start the ball rolling now, or if I actually have to wait until he's gone to apply? I've looked up the calculators and it looks like I should be entitled to a top-up payment on top of my wages.
Can anyone explain how it gets affected by me being paid weekly? I've heard stories of payments being reduced if I happen to get 5 payments one month (as happens with weekly pay)
I've looked online and can't quite work it out!
