First payment (remortgage)

We are with NatWest remortgaging to Nationwide. Our NatWest payment is first of the month, we'll want the same with nationwide. Our deal ends 31/1/19 so our new mortgage presumably will start 1/2/19. Will our last NatWest payment be 1/1 and first nationwide 1/2? Sorry if that's a stupid question, broker not being overly helpful just said month after completion and not entirely sure what that means in remortgaging.

Nationwide will set a date for your payments each month that might or might not the 1st of the month. You should also be able to agree what day in the month you make payment to them going forward. You might find you make a payment in February or you might find you make a payment in March but it covers two months. It’s very unlikely you’d make a payment to nationwide the first day you’re with them.

Hi, you request your preferred payment date.

If like me you complete at the end of your discounted period, then your old mortgage company (NatWest) takes their payment and your first payment to the (Nationwide)will be the 1st of the following month as per your instruction.
