Why are MLMs/ Network Marketing 'businesses' a scam?

Spongebobette · 31/10/2018 20:40

This is the 44th thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, Valentus, TS Life, and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs
Over 90% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

@DownThePan you're right it hasn't launched but I found it (Enhanzz Global) and the pre launch event is on 1st December (44 euros and a trip to Germany if you fancy it...). But they apparently do have 6000 distributors and customers!

cozietoesie · 15/11/2018 20:24

That sounds very...........'round'. 🙂

BangingOn · 15/11/2018 22:01

Can we mentioned MLM team names on here?

A large JP team, they of the 6:30am and 9:30pm Zoom calls, now have 7 calls on a Friday. 7!

cozietoesie · 15/11/2018 22:13

How large are they, though?

fitgirl26 · 15/11/2018 22:25

Someone needs to tell Wig to dial back the filters on her photos 😳

BangingOn · 15/11/2018 23:06

cozie not sure how many are on each call but they are one of the bigger U.K. teams, their upline is PMD and speaks at all the conferences.

I've just seen this Bored Panda article pop up on Facebook. A pharmacy student talking about the dangers of MLM products and how they are harmful to your health and can be quite dangerous.

Ladycleopatrer · 16/11/2018 11:49

I have been reading these threads for a while now & feel like I need to contribute. I've almost been sucked into an MLM a couple of times in the past. Luckily for me I listened to the nagging doubt voice in my head & having the knowledge that when something is too good to be true, it usually is. I was actually almost convinced & tempted to join a new MLM fad recently as the products do seem good. It just goes to show how easy it is to get sucked in, even when the person is educated on mlms. Also I would also like to point out that this type of marketing strategy is rife in the modelling world, with so called 'agency's' charging aspiring models hundreds of pounds to be on their 'books' & when they're asked as to why the model has received no castings. They then use manipulation tactics & apparently this is all legal! Feeding off people's hopes, dreams & aspirations!

Thanks, Lady. 🙂

I'd like to thank this thread for introducing me to the podcast which is really really good and livening up by commute home every evening!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 16/11/2018 12:50

Is juice plus one is these mlm? I know someone who just started selling it and it seems dodgy

Norma27 · 16/11/2018 12:56

Yea juice plus is an mlm. Awful just like all the rest of them.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 16/11/2018 13:00

@Norma27 why do the people selling get so convinced? This girl swears she has lost weight using it

Sunshineandshowers81 · 16/11/2018 13:12

They replace meals with shakes so cut calories so do lose weight. You can buy protien shakes for a fraction of th cost that juice plus charge

9dartfinish2nd · 16/11/2018 13:24

@SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc

If the person you know hasn't gone too deep into this then you might consider showing them this link,

www.talentedladiesclub.com/articles/the-complete-lowdown-on-mlm-juice-plus/

Otherwise you might just need to back off and let her fall on her own sword with it.

Once fully botted they get very defensive of criticism of their company.

Paddy1234 · 16/11/2018 13:35

I downloaded Roomies book yesterday
It's beyond anything that I have ever been fortunate ever to experience in my own life

It's gives an inkling as to why her relationship may have soured with Yawn

I just hope beyond hope that she sees the light and kicks FL out of her life and sees how it can damage other vulnerable young women

thetemptationofchocolate · 16/11/2018 13:43

I don't know who roomie is but I'm interested in reading her book. Can someone pm me a link to it please?

Felford · 16/11/2018 13:46

New to this thread, just noticed on facebook someone is now an 'Independent Usborne Organiser.' Never heard of them before but it screams MLM to me - that said I've had a google and not seen much about them.

Am I correct in thinking it's an MLM and to be wary? How good/ bad are they if so?

cozietoesie · 16/11/2018 14:02

Oh Yes. They're MLM.

sshuga · 16/11/2018 14:09

No such thing as a good MLM

FranceTeam · 16/11/2018 15:29

Does anyone else find the marketing for Roomie's book rather strange?

The content isn't my idea of a good read anyway, but I do think the serious content of the subject matter clashes with the flashy cover.

cozietoesie · 16/11/2018 15:44

'Marketing' is a law unto itself.

Norma27 · 16/11/2018 16:54

It could be that she is showing how well she had done and happy she is despite what has happened. I am tempted to download her book.,
I know she has done bad things as a bot, but I wonder how much pressure she had to do it with yawn and Uber bullying her.
She obviously had a very bad start to life, and I hope she leaves forever shite and gets any support she needs.

SwaylorTift · 16/11/2018 17:30

Is Young Living a MLM? Been popping up on my FB feed recently.

FranceTeam · 16/11/2018 17:31

Agreed, if she’s a good author then she doesn’t need the FLP crap. I do think ditching the positivity crap would help market the book better. A more solemn front cover would be appropriate
