If I'm applying for a mortgage right now (it's being processed) will buying a chair on finance today go against me?

Of course they "really think like that"

They dont give a shit what you think you can afford. They have a lot of criteria you have to meet and they can amend or cancel your offer whenever they feel like it until you complete.
