Seriously, i could pay it back in full before any intrest was added, just need a bit of time to juggle different savings accounts. ? Is it do-able even for part payment. My limits quite high. thinking thousands not hundreds..

I would have thought you could, depends on whether the vendor accepts them.

the 2nd hand car place i got mine did

Hulababy · 17/06/2007 18:31

Yes you can. We did - put several thousands on it for that purchase; was enough limit. It takes some time though. You need to phone your credit card company in davnace to warn them, and then when you go to pay the salesperson will phone the bank as well.

I don't know, but if you couldn't then would it cost you loads to draw out the cash on credit card and use that?

Is it a warranted sale through a dealership?

unknownrebelbang · 17/06/2007 18:32

We could have done when we recently bought our new car.

The reason we didn't was they charged a percentage fee, so used debit card for part-payment, and a building society cheque (off FIL) for the rest.

kikid · 17/06/2007 18:36

I wondered if there might be a fee!

Yes I,m thinking dealership here.

Trying to work out best option.

Thankyou, ladies.

We didn't have to pay or a fee or a CC percentage or anything. This was on a brand new car at a dealership.

No, at time our CC didn't offer them. This was a few years back.

Eddas · 17/06/2007 19:33

IIRC when we bought our car there was a fee for using cc but not a debit card

We bought our last car using a credit card - with no extra fee. It was a bit of an impulse buy so we didn't have the money in the right account to access it. We bought from the main dealership and they suggested credit card when we were discussing how long it would take to move the money around.
Having said that, we wanted to buy one using a credit card a few years previously and were told that we had to have a banker's draft - also a main dealership but different make of car.
