Am I doing MB right?

Hi

Started matched betting a week ago after tip toeing round the edge of it for a couple of months. I've been reading loads of threads on here, signed up for MatchedBets (has odds checker, calculator and other tools).

Have read and watched videos including on Save The Student and Profit Accumulator. I signed up for Betfair a couple of months ago using a new email address but can't remember my details and can not recover them. As Profit Accumulator uses Betfair I can't sign up to them as my new email address seems to be associated with the 'lost' one. Have signed up to Smarkets exchange now which I quite like.

Anyway, I put £150 in to my Smarkets account. Signed up for about 5 bookies for sign up deals. Had to put about £70 into bookies accounts to register and claim bonus funds. So have put £220 in to MB so far. Feel ok (not 100% confident yet) with MB.

So after using my free bets and now they're all settled, my Smarkets balance is £225.

I only seem to have made £5 in a week. What am I doing wrong? How is everyone managing to make any money? I'm obviously doing something wrong

Have you got any balances at the bookies you have signed up to?

If you've signed up for 5 bookies then I imagine that you have taken advantage of their welcome offers and used the free bets that you will have been given. I'd so, you should definitely have made more than £5.

What bets have you placed? Did you lay them at the exchange (Smarkets)? How much did you make from the free bets?
