Able to cancel online payment?

I've made an online payment (this evening at 6pm) with Barclays. Due to a long and boring story (that I won't bore you with!) I could now do with cancelling it. Does anyone know if that's possible? With Barclays.

If it went by faster payment then it will probably have reached the other account within 2 hours. Can you ask the recipient to return it?
