Please help me - I have been an idiot

I cannot believe what an idiot I have been - I have sent £300.00 by Trade Western Union for a Bugaboo which I dont think I am going to receive.

I was promised delivery once money had been sent which I did this morning.

I have just heard from them saying that they have sent two by mistake and could I pay for the other one and that they would only charge £220.00

What the hell can I do? I am in tears about this. I feel sick to my stomach that I have been such a fool. Half of me is still hoping this is genuine.

Their advert is in Gumtree and looks good.

Has anyone any advice?

Hi,

I've read this thread with interest especially as there are still adverts on gumtree offering bugaboo cameleons for £ 310, apparently from a bugaboo reseller in Italy.

What was the outcome from your experience, was this fraudulent as you thought?

Thanks

1legmummy · 29/08/2007 23:33

Hi just an update yes this was fraud as I thought and yes they are still on Gumtree, I have written many, many times to Gumtree but they seem happy to post these adverts.

Please everyone be careful, although I think I was particularly stupid I should have been more careful

Just seen this, : at being scammed.

But... If they are still advertisting in the paper, please contact the paper by phone or even go to their offices. Otherwise threaten to go to a "main" local paper, as they are allowing known scammers to advertise in the paper.

Go to the police and just let them know. There may be many others in the same boat as you.
By letting them know, it means that if the police catch anyone for doing it, it is one more case against them.

Can you contact Trade Western Union, and explaint the situation, they probably won't give you any contact details, but they may be able to do something for you.

HTH

I have called the paper, I have been to the Police, I have phoned Western Union and I have phoned trading standards, none of them could help me. I have also been on Gumtree forum and put a note on there.

Just want to forget about it now - I was very stupid.

Don't beat yourself up 1leg, it's such an easy mistake to make

AlwaysTheMummy · 30/08/2007 14:14

Oh no 1leg, that sounds terrible, I feel really bad for you.

I really really want to swear about these heartless people that intentionally scam decent hardworking people for their own gain.

Big hugs to you xx

Thank you xx

You weren't stupid, just unfortunate. I gave away my buggies to the local charity shop. They were spotless and like new, would have been a steal for whoever got it. Good luck.
