Hi i need some help with working out the date I go back to work. I'm so thick. I am taking 9 months off. I work 3 days aweek, Mon to Weds. My maternity leave started Tuesday the 19th June 2018. I know its in March 2018, but cant work out the correct date. Also if i want to go back the 1st week in April, will i be able to and not get paid the weeks before? Thank you

Why can't you find out this info from your employer?

Are you in the UK?
The 9 months would normally be 39 weeks from the start of mat leave (that is the paid element of SMP) so that's easy enough to work out with a calendar.
Yes you can change the date you want to return within the 52 weeks of mat leave - you need to give them at least 8 weeks written notice from when you're due to return.

Best thing to do is speak to payroll about your mat leave dates, ask them about their cut off dates and decide when you want to return by giving your manager 2 months notice. Thats what I did. If you want a full months pay, start the day after payroll’s cut off date.

39 weeks is tuesday 19th march. You can take up to a year off, but have to get it agreed with your employer with at least 8 weeks notice

I'm concerned you don't know this as you should have had your return to work date agreed with HR when you handed in your MAT B1 form? I had to tell them how long i wanted off, i can change it with 8 weeks notice if i want to, but i had an agreed return to work date prior to going on maternity.

Most employers will assume a year and you need to give them notice of 8 weeks to return. Your payroll or hr will give you the detail you need.

19th March, my maternity leave started on the 19th June 2017 and I returned to work on the 19th March 2018.
