Sounds silly a friend of mine recently opened an account online to play the national lottery....so far she's been rather lucky, so I was looking to do the same....
Is this a good idea? I'm not silly with my money I just thought a few fun and games here and there would be fun :)

I do my lottery on a monthly account. I stay away from the other games on there as I feel they could be quite addictive and having worked in a betting shop, I know that these slot games can really eat people up. A biweekly lottery game is a bit different as I don't really expect to win, but can hope for a surprise jackpot one day. The key is to keep very aware of how much you are spending and to never see gambling as an investment.

Of course it's not a good idea Confused

It's a complete waste of money. You might as well burn it.

I'm an IFA, I consider it part of my charitable giving. You will very very (very, very etc) likely be down on the deal.

Playing the lottery (whether the main draws or the smaller games) is effectively crowd funding for z random stranger to have an unexpected windfall. It's nice to know that potentially life-changing windfalls are possible but it is foolish to expect or even hope that it would ever happen to you.

The smaller games where the amounts aren't life-changing - you will always always lose money on average.
