Tax Credits Regig

Just a quick question. My eldest, dd1, is starting school next week. She had 30 free hours at nursery and then about £140 a month in additional fees.

I also have twins who are still paying the highest fees as they are in the Toddler Room with a high staff ratio. Their combined fees are about £700 and I receive tax credits which cover most of this which allows me to work three days a week and still be in profit.

I have advices the tax credit department that my nursery fees have reduced by £140 a month from September and I'm waiting for my adjusted claim.

Does anyone know if they will just reduce my tax credits by £140? I was hoping to be able to use some of the money saved from dd1's fees for her breakfast club two mornings a week and maybe even try and save a few pounds every month. Not sure how it works though? I guess if I could afford to save I'm getting too much money?

They only pay Upto 70% of your childcare fees anyways, they don't usually pay for the full amount. So you'll find whatever % they pay out of the £140 they will just stop that amount. So 70% is £98 so it could be anything Upto that amount they contribute and will stop. X

That's exactly what I needed to know! Thank you.
