Hi MNers

I have just recieved a letter from Bluestone credit management. Its been sent to my parents house where im staying rn, the letter says their "attempting to contact me in relation to a confidential matter and have been provided this address as your current place of residence" bla bla. It then asks me to call them on an 0114 number (premium rate?) And a ref.

Now im 99% sure i have no outstanding debts or anything. Not recieved any other letters so dont know if this is a legitimate company or some horrible scam.

Please does anyone have any experience with this company as Ive heard what these horrible companies are capable of

Thanks

Check your credit report first

PattiStanger · 28/08/2018 11:10

0114 is the normal code for Sheffield - why would you be charged a premium rate?

Call them and ask what it's about

Plasticgiraffe · 28/08/2018 11:19

Check your credit report as pp said. Money Saving Expert have a free Experian one if you don't have one

BusyBeeMummy1 · 28/08/2018 11:20

@reaa i coincidentally checked my credit report on clearscore yesterday and there was nothing on there.
@patti I wasnt sure if it was a prem rate or not and im worried if i get in touch with them they will get my number and start harrasing me Sad

Regarding credit reports, Noddle is completely free for life, so you don't have to worry about signing up with payment details and then forgetting to cancel.

PattiStanger · 28/08/2018 11:24

Block your number before you call them, it's much better to sort something like this out than ignore it. It might be a mistake or something from years ago you've forgotten about. If you ignore it they will ramp up the chasing

BusyBeeMummy1 · 28/08/2018 11:25

@freckled thanks il check with them too so sure nothings on there but will defo look

Call them but withold your number first.

MyDcAreMarvel · 28/08/2018 11:27

Ignore it you don’t live there they are just chancers.

Plasticgiraffe · 28/08/2018 11:27

If it was me I'd ignore and put it down to a mistake then if they contacted me again give them a ring. May be worth checking if they persist as they may have made a mistake or chasing a statue barred debt

Myusername2015 · 28/08/2018 11:28

Bluestone credit are incredibly persistent; definitely don’t ignore them; I’ve heard stories of them contacting workplaces/family. Could it Definitely block your number and call to discuss

Reaa · 28/08/2018 12:02

If there is nothing on your credit report, I would ignore them.
