Life insurance

Sorry if this is the wrong topic.

When my son was born a year ago, I took out life insurance for myself and my husband to be (separate policies).

I now have a job which has an employee benefit of life insurance.

Am I better keeping my own? Or can I not "double insure" myself? I'm a bit confused

If you can afford the premiums of the other insurance keep it

If you get rid of it because of your death in service Ben. And then leave working there is 10 years time you will need to then get personal life insurance and your 10 years older perhaps with a new medical condition that increases your morbidity and you will struggle to get insured or just because of age it will be more expensive

Congratulations on new job Flowers

Oh and you can have as many life insurance policies as you want

Amazing.

I'd rather keep my personal one going as it's probably a better insurance!

I was just unsure if one would override the other for example.

Thank you!

starryeyed12 see my other thread.

We did similar to cover the interest-only mortgage when our kids were small & premiums were low. DH then got a great job with great benefits so we cancelled it. Job's gone now.

It's now MUCH more expensive. Wish he'd just kept the original.

We had so much bad financial advice.

Thank you @grumiosmum I think I'm definitely continuing my own
