Maternity allowance payments

Just wondering if anyone can help me out as I'm really confused here! Anyone who has had MA before, how many payments did you get overall?

It says I'm entitled to the full 39 weeks (paid every 4 weeks) but this is between 9 and 10 month/payments (9 months is technically 36 weeks?) so not sure when my last payment will be. Baby was born in Jan and got my first payment in the last week of Jan, I got less money in my first payment though but every month since has been the same amount. Also been getting it first week of the month since March instead of the last week (not sure why that changed). Just not sure whether my last payment will be Sept or Oct as I'm trying to figure out when to return to work and don't want to go back earlier than I need to Grin

Any ideas?

Just give them a ring. I had to a few times and they were very friendly and helpful. They will tell you the exact date and amount of your last payment

@Magpiefeather ok thanks! I was going to try give them a call tomorrow but remembered it took me 6 attempts to be directed to the right office as every number I found online was wrong so thought I'd ask here first!

Nine month will be more than 36 weeks as some months will have 5 weeks in them.

@Babyroobs that's true. So would it be 39 weeks from my first payment date then or just from the start of that month do you think?

It's 39 weeks of payments. Presumably your first one was for less than 4 weeks so work out how many weeks that was for as a starting point. Or count 39 weeks from the date your claim started
