MLM Bot Watch 42

Spongebobette · 18/08/2018 12:09

This is the 42nd thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, TS Life, and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs
Over 90% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

It’s to get ‘engagement’ on your posts so that FB shows your posts to more people or something

And once again yawn can pull on jeans which haven’t fit her for years. Didn’t she say that on her last c9 a few weeks ago?
Really don’t understand how people can be such bullshitters!

fitgirl26 · 20/08/2018 16:04

There's a Valentus Bot I follow, used to be one of Salon's cronies, who is still frantically trying to convince everyone that the time is now, ground floor opportunity etc. She has two profiles - one has a middle initial added. So every time Profile A posts, Profile B comments with a load of emojis, Profile A then "loves" Profile B's comment and replies with a load of emojis. And if you look at Profile B she does exactly the same thing in reverse. Several times a day. Why? Just why?

RogueApostrophe · 20/08/2018 16:04

A couple of Made in Chelsea's cast members were at the Rise Against Hunger food packing event. Are they both botted up then? Not sure if it's OK to mention them by name on here!

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 20/08/2018 16:18

@fitgirl26 I imagine she is trying to play algorithms and make her account look more active than it is which could make it more visible. The same reason that they ask pointless questions - partly to shown off their often imaginary wealth but also drive traffic to their page.

Madawada · 20/08/2018 16:49

Hi all, new on this site and here to confess my sins. I am one of the silly stay-at-home mums who was seduced by the wonders of MLM. Invested money in sign up (which I put on credit card), invested more money to buy products to use because I needed to be a product of the product (again paid on credit card. I ran my autoship each month (again paid on credit card). I was pestered to buy extra product to pay for someones promotion, because 'scratch our back and we will scratch yours when time comes'. I bought clothing to be a walking advertisement (how cringe!) I posted on Facebook every couples of hours, with not only selling posts, but also posts to increase likes and comments, which in turn would apparently mean more people saw my posts. I spammed my friends and family, because as we all know, no doesn't really mean no does it!? I followed the motto 'fake it until you make it', had all these days out with my children 'paid for' by selling crap.
The result of all this, I lost sleep, I lost friends, I stressed about looking like I had a fun life filled with sales that really weren't there. I stressed about having to approach a certain amount of people each day, I stressed about posting consistently because if I didn't I would never be successful. My friends stopped calling or visiting, I suffered horrendously with anxiety and became a recluse, I was scared to contact my friends. Took me a year to overcome my anxiety. This anxiety eased as soon as I quit MLM.
I wish when I was researching MLM that I had found a thread like this. Would have saved me from debt, would have saved my health and would have saved my friendships.

Joy1983 · 20/08/2018 16:56

I think if I was successful in MLM I'd bank alot of the money if it's so unpredictable.I'd live within my means so when it all goes T**s up I'd have money to pay my bills etc. Then find secure employment and count it as a lesson learned.

Spongebobette · 20/08/2018 17:18

A very warm welcome to the thread @Madawada and thank you so much for sharing your story. Sadly it is very typical and we know that MLMs ruin lives; often ex ‘bots’ just keep quiet about it when they leave because they are ashamed, thinking it’s their own fault that they didn’t make a success of it. That’s one of the ways that MLMs keep on going; new recruits are told not to listen to the ‘neg heads’ and that people who are critical of network marketing have failed in it because they didn’t work hard enough/ give it long enough. SUCH bullshit because the system is, in fact, rigged.

On here we think very badly of ‘leaders’ who use FB to seduce people in and to flaunt a ‘lifestyle ‘
It’s really wicked because they take money from new mums and people who can’t get work, all the time knowing that the likelihood of them making any actual money is close to zero

It’s very very sad seeing posts from newish bots saying they are ‘smashing’ promotions etc etc when it’s all smoke and mirrors

If I had one piece of advice for anyone who’s just joined an MLM it would be this:

Keep very careful and accurate records of all of your expenses in your business, including things like petrol, that coffee/ afternoon tea you bought for a ‘prospect’, leaflets, website costs, success days, product you’ve bought for your ‘launch’ or for samples, EVERYTHING. Also keep a record of the number of hours you spend on your business, training, zoom calls, etc etc and calculate what that is on minimum wage

Keep a record of the profit you have made each month by selling product/ recruiting

If you subtract your costs from the profit and the number is negative, you are losing money.

You could try not counting your labour on minimum wage to see if that results in a better result....but you might still not be making money.

Sackedbyariiix · 20/08/2018 18:02

@notgotapenny thank you for that, I hope so too. I’m really sad to hear about ppl using credit cards and getting into serious debt and using fake it till you make it methods of approach it goes against everything I’ve ever taught but I’ve seen plenty of it over the years..... in terms of the outlay for training days, coffee mornings travel etc etc that element is little different to any other venture you may endeavour in really....
Take cakes as an example....
You do some classes
Buy some equipment
You spend hours practicing, wasting ingredients
You give cakes away to build a database
Most fledgling businesses of any kind take 3yrs to even break even and few ever make it past that point
How many boutiques do you see open on the local high street
Bridal shops
Florists
Hairdressers even
They all cost money to build, launch, train and practice in but is it only different because that’s truly YOUR BUSINESS and your own silly fault for not investing more time effort or patience in it?
I’m genuinely interested in hearing your take on it

My biggest issue is the top BOTS claiming this 15 minutes a day from your smartphone, get rich quick, get debt free
And get time freedom bollox....
It’s just really damaging and really over promises what is actually a good
Potential home income but is a franchise of sorts. I certainly know it’s not YOUR BUSINESS from experience and I believe it’s unregulated
Over promisers and
“Fake it till you make it teachings’ that con women into thinking it’s Easy!!! It’s not! Far from
It! And infact the traction posts you
Talk of on fb are used my many online marketers for their online presence.....
Not just mlm but I used them to increase my cake platform and I know many crafters etc who
Do the same are they under the same umbrella as mlmers?
I see a growing issue with ppl
Using personal profiles for business but I know both fb and yourselves are taking vigil action on this and rightly so.
Marketing in any form should be taught effectively and professionally but it’s not all
Bad and Online traction is a valueabke tool for many businesses

Notgotapenny · 20/08/2018 18:19

@madawada I used to dread the messages from my uplines saying “hi Hun, just checking in...” which we’re always closely followed by “have you any orders in the pipeline” I spent loads on my credit card too! It was actually a relief when I settled back into my part time JOB because it felt like I was in control again. It’s hard speaking out because I totally felt I had failed myself and my family.

Joy1983 · 20/08/2018 18:39

@madawada don't call yourself a silly stay at home mum.You haven't failed I have ran my own business for over 21 years, I've at times made the wrong decisions with my business.

ArbunneHun · 20/08/2018 20:15

Genuine question: why does Messiah’s house/flat/whatever have the interior decor of a 1990s Thistle Hotel in Wolverhampton? Seriously: gold brocade sofa, dark red walls, eye-melting geometric patterned carpet... it’s bizarre. They must be renting furnished. Do they own anything for themselves?

ArbunneHun · 20/08/2018 20:45

Also, Wig ‘n’ Sleaze are pushing ANOTHER crypto-mining scam. I know a fair bit about finance and investment and the first rule is that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A GUARANTEED RATE OF RETURN ON INVESTMENT. Anyone offering that is trying to defraud you. I know very little about crypto currencies, but I do know that the smaller mining set ups have been squeezed out of the market by the fall in bitcoin prices (mining rigs are being dumped all over the world) and that even the big mining companies are losing money hand over fist at the moment and will continue to do so unless Bitcoin spikes in price by about 25%.

What they are promoting is so transparently untrue I can’t actually believe they have the chutzpah to put it on Facebook.

cozietoesie · 20/08/2018 21:01

Most people don't understand cryptocurrency is why........

ArbunneHun · 20/08/2018 21:04

Currently reporting almost every one of W’n’S’ posts to FB. I can’t bear the thought of people losing money because of them - where are their morals????? I couldn’t do that to people!

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 20/08/2018 21:05

@ArbunneHun there is nothing wrong with renting your home. I rent my home, it does not make me one of life's failures

ArbunneHun · 20/08/2018 21:17

@Tw1nset: I wasn’t implying that renting = failure (renting is a fact of life for most for most of us) more referring back to previous discussions about his big, flashy castle residence (which turned out to be a rented apartment in a converted castle), them his big move to his ‘family home’. He’s previously claimed to own ‘multiple properties around the world’ and to be a ‘million $ earner’ - so why is he renting a hideously furnished house/flat/who knows? Something doesn’t add up.

Madawada · 20/08/2018 21:21

@sackedbyariix I was part of your downline once upon a time.

@Notgotapenny it really is a relief isn't it. I felt like a massive weight had been lifted when I left. I felt like a total failure, the guilt I felt was so overwhelming, especially when it was made to feel like it was my fault for not working hard enough. Exactly like you say @Spongebobette

@Joy1983 thank you for saying that, so many people think I am stupid for falling for it, so many friends and family warning me it was a scam, of course bots told me it was lack of understanding.

Whiterangey · 20/08/2018 21:29

I have reported Wig and Sleaze many times, so many posts. I have reported a couple of their 'business partners' about 3 Ponzi's back who were quite obviously using a photo of some mining farm in Iceland as their own. They were quite near the top of the Ponzi so my hope was it would have more of an effect if FB removed their posts.

Didn't happen.

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 20/08/2018 21:31

Sorry @ArbunneHun I read your post too quickly and thought you were talking about brokebot. Although I think he has recently moved into an inherited house.

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 20/08/2018 21:35

@Madawada MLMs thrive on making people feel ashamed about their lack of success so that they keep quiet about it.

A prime example of victim blaming is this post by sacked.

''I see so many sad, negative and depressing posts on fb!! I feel really sad when I read them because I know I used to be there!
I see people struggling to pay bills and make ends meet, I know how hard it is because I used to be there!I
see people drowning in the negative lifestyle they self create or almost come to expect, I know because I was the person who created a self fulfilling prophecy of negativity!
I moaned, complained, vocalised my inner fears my struggles and concerns.... Did it fix it!? Did it make it better or easier to manage?? No!!!
Once I stopped putting it out there, expecting the next day to bring more sadness heartache or struggles.... Once I decided I deserved better, once I committed to MYSELF to improve my life my situation and my struggles.... THEN IT IMPROVED!
I stopped being a victim of LIFE and took CONTROL! I accepted the things I COULD NOT CHANGE!
I FOCUSED on fixing the THINGS I COULD CHANGE! I worked my ass off for a BETTER TOMORROW
Stopped making excuses, removed my mental stumbling blocks and just went hell for leather doing anything and everything I could to improve and enjoy the one and only life I was gonna get!
I refused to pass negativity or sadness to my children OR THOSE AROUND ME, I won't infect them with missed opportunities or under achieving!
It may not be for everyone but maybe just maybe it's time to accept that YOUR WAY, the HARD WAY, is NOT THE ONLY WAY!
There is a BETTER WAY! And it starts with YOU!! Have a great week! I believe in YOU

ArbunneHun · 20/08/2018 21:38

I think Broke did a house swap with his mum, @Tw1nset. My grandparents did something similar with my great aunt - Liverpool Council was a really good landlord like that.

Again, really sorry if you felt I was being snobbish about renting. I promise you that wasn’t the intent Flowers

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 20/08/2018 21:40

@ArbunneHun I wasn't offended. I understand it more if you are talking about messiah who is trying to sell a jetset lifestyle. I thought it was rather harsh about broke because be is obviously a victim of MLMs.

ArbunneHun · 20/08/2018 21:41

It’s so demoralising, isn’t it @Whiterangey? I’ve reported them to Action Fraud about 3 times as well. I just hope that one day it will have an effect.

Madawada · 20/08/2018 22:00

@Tw1nsetAndPearls That truly says it all doesn't it. I have no words!
