This is the 42nd thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, TS Life, and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs
Over 90% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

It's such a shame in the World that we live in that Woman are always made to feel insecure about themselves it's marketed 24/7.If women have Mental Health Problems they should seek help it is out there. We live in a world where material wealth means more to someone's wellbeing.Lives are lived out on Social Media and that brings criticism etc.
I'm old school I stayed at home used my own creative skills for my own wellbeing and when the time was right got myself an evening job cleaning. Then moved to part-time work,full-time work and now run my own Business of 21years.It pays its way I don't have a lavish lifestyle and would not put myself under that pressure.

Norma27 · 19/08/2018 10:00

I agree with arbunne about women being shunned when they leave an mlm.
I know somebody who recently decided to leave Cambridge weight plan. I don’t know how much of an mlm that is but it ticks some of the boxes. She put a status on fb saying she was leaving and would understand if others wanted to unfriend her now. I found that totally bizarre. People leave companies all the time and remain friends with people from their old jobs. They even get wished well and bought cards and presents!

ShouldDiet · 19/08/2018 11:25

I got stuck at Assistant Manager in FLP for years before leaving when I saw the decline.

I have to admit I knew many people sat in front of me would not make their £200 back but justified that 'they would just blow it on other crap anyway, at least they had a CHANCE to do something here'.

I only left because it got too difficult. If I had been earning thousands I probably would still be there selling the dream.

I'm glad to be on the other side now and it's taken a long time to correct my thinking.

Unlike many ex bots who post here I will say we all recruited people we knew weren't suitable. Anyone who makes MLM work is not stupid and you can tell everyone you meet someone if they are too proud to advertise the MLM/too flakey to push it etc. You cling on to the faint hope that someone will surprise you and make you a fortune but deep down you know before theyve even signed on the line that they will not be active in 12 weeks.

Even back in my earlier posts here I probably thought I hadn't done this but now I know looking back, I did know. Maybe I was kidding myself. I had the opinion that I'd been a nice person and didn't get very far in my career, so maybe it was time to be ruthless and do what it takes for my family.

Ultimately I lost money despite the Assistant Manager status, I had to buy my bonus most months which would cost £400 to access £600 bonus. Add in experience and I was no better off than anyone else.

ArbunneHun · 19/08/2018 12:21

Anyone got a spare £13?

Apparently, Wig ‘n’ Sleaze’s patented combination of ponzis and scams can turn it into £500k in a year!

Huns, we are all going to be millionaires thanks to our fave #PowerCouple!

Paddy1234 · 19/08/2018 12:32

Eeek TS-Life launches in 13 days

#the countdown is on. Investors may just want to check if he is in rented or owns his property - faster to get away if rented

Notgotapenny · 19/08/2018 14:35

I’m an ex Ariix bot. I signed when I was pregnant and going through a tough time in my JOB. I loved the idea of personal development, financial freedom, being a Stay at Home mum! Guess what .... I went back part time to my JOB - owing loads on my credit cards!! Ah well, you live and learn!

ArbunneHun · 19/08/2018 14:43

Love and respect to the ex-MLMers joining the thread and sharing their stories: you are very welcome here. Your experiences help others in the same situation to feel less alone - and by sharing them publicly you may save someone who is thinking of joining Ariiix, FLP, Valentus, Younique, JuicePlus, Isagenix, Arbonne, NuSkin or one of the other many companies out there a lot of time, energy, money and self-respect.

Thank you Flowers

Norma27 · 19/08/2018 14:50

Apparently roomies new victim made £115 in 2 hours at her bizniz launch.
In an empty cafe judging by the pics.
Do people actually believe this shit?

cozietoesie · 19/08/2018 15:00

Yes indeed, Arbunne. Thanks to all who are sharing their stories.Smile

Whiterangey · 19/08/2018 16:37

I agree, thank you to all sharing the stories.

Also, welcome back Reformed @ShouldDiet i've always loved your insight about being in an MLM.

I've just watched Brewster's Millions on Netflix, i've seen it a few times before but a while ago, my first thought when watching it this time was that i'd just stick the whole lot in a crypto Ponzi and that would be that.

Has anyone got a guess of how many are in TS Life and how much it is to join? I've just assumed that they have already paid him money but does anyone know if that is true or is he waiting for launch for them to give him the money?

Whiterangey · 19/08/2018 17:09

Roomie's new victim owns the cafe her launch was in. I'm guessing the big sell from Roomie was that all of her customers will be climbing over each other to buy her stuff. Hopefully she will see the light before she drives any of her customers away.

DameSquashalot · 19/08/2018 17:25

What's the deal bwiwth Utility Warehouse? Are they genuine?

Authormummy · 19/08/2018 17:47

The friendship people talk about that you make while networking is true, just not so much for your up lines.

I believed I had found a friend I could trust, someone I did trust and tell something deep to after a year of meeting her in person.
A year after leaving her company she has not messaged me once! Some of those friendships are fake.

BangingOn · 19/08/2018 17:52

I can’t work out whether Messiah has had any money yet or not. His USA team are apparently pre-pre-launch which is so exciting nobody has created a name for it yet.

My JP PMD was once again raving about how family friendly and fun her ‘job’ is as she gets to hang out with her friends all day- starting with a 6am Zoom call. 6am on a Sunday morning and she’s selling it as a benefit Hmm

Sacked it’s been really interesting hearing your story and I echo earlier posters when I say that your cakes were just amazing. I don’t really get your current product, but I don’t think I’m target market anyway. If you want others to sell it on your behalf then can’t that be done using a simple agency/commission model rather than MLM? You could offer one off referral bonuses instead of recruiting and downlines, meaning you don’t need to build as much margin into the products to support future downlines and the focus is on the products, which it sounds like you want it to be.

Sackedbyariiix · 19/08/2018 18:05

@bangingon that’s essentially what it is an affiliate platform we’re not over priced in comparison to the competing products that are sold direct infact we offer way more and better value, it’s aimed far more at making personal sales and cash in your hand there is no residual element to it and there are very very few interested or trying to recruit which is fine by me but those who can will and they earn a small commission for leading teams and working with them but it doesn’t put price us and there is zero pressure, targets or minimum buy or monthly anything they don’t hold stock they order on the site as they sell and I send direct to their clients so it’s very different to any mlm/NWM company I’ve ever worked for (I started in it works was there 2yrs, then Ariix 2yrs, jeunesse for 3 months (horrendous expensive products and unworkable binary structure) most recently I worked for a superfood company who decided my waist trainers were competition? 🤷🏻‍♀️

BangingOn · 19/08/2018 18:36

Then why not step away from recruitment altogether? No recruitment, making it entirely about the product removes any potential association with MLM and the negative connotations that has for so many people.

Sackedbyariiix · 19/08/2018 18:43

Mainly because there are girls out there like me who do develop others who do believe like I do that this is a way to help others succeed alongside you I need leaders to help train and work with the hundreds of affiliates because they are mostly ex mlm they are used to earning a % on their teams and I personally think that offering that only on the first few levels encourages them to support and train ethically we have extensive groups and advice I don’t like them spamming we use private groups for sales and we are extremely customer focused on support too and all
Our products are less than £25 with the exception of packs, the affiliate earns flat rate 35% on every sale so they know they get what they are promised 😁

Sackedbyariiix · 19/08/2018 18:46

A lot of the girls in Sirens are just as disheartened as I am with mlm and they see this as a different way. The fact we are owned, lead and focused on women makes a big difference too....my aim is to focus on education and value both for affiliate and client we
Make sure they always feel appreciated and confident in what they are offering with no hidden bits or trip wires the reason I lean towards mlm is because I feel there is a potential to do it differently and I want to increase my product range by trade I’m a cosmetic surgery nurse I specialised in skin treatments and I want to create an affordable skin system and nutrition system to prove it doesn’t need to be expensive or over hyped to work

worcestersauce29 · 19/08/2018 18:57

shit local BBC news just showed an 'amazing charity' meals for hungry, everyone paid to partake to fill food pouches............f ing forever living headquarters grrrrr, grrrr, grrrrr

BangingOn · 19/08/2018 19:04

I’m really not sure that MLM can be done differently, but I hope you can prove me wrong.

Sackedbyariiix · 19/08/2018 19:11

So do I lol I’m pretty sure you guys will be watching me pretty closely but I unlike others do and always have felt very responsible for those who trust me enough to work
With me and my team have always been paramount and they were a huge part of my life changing not just through finances but genuine friendships and support! Believing in each other and me really listening and connecting to them as I said before many ppl came and went from my teams and aren’t in my team now yet I still connect support and cheer them on however I can! I’m not controlled by a pay cheque I had nothing, everything and nothing again and honestly NWM changed my life more when it paid my £700 rent and paid for my kids to do extra activities than it did with luxury holidays and nice cars! Of course the income is incredible but maybe it’s the nurse in me that wants to help others just be ok, just have enough! I’ve been in debt I’ve struggled and I know how debilitating and lonely that can be and I’d never want to be responsible for worsening that situation in anyway

SSDGM · 19/08/2018 20:04

I really don’t see what the problem is with just getting a normal job. I worked part time on a low wage for years when my kids were young and as much as it wasn’t what I wanted it paid the bills and allowed me to learn my industry so as soon as I was able to, I could build a career. Top MLM bots make out that women who work outside the home are somehow bad mothers for “leaving” their children. Surely being stuck on your phone or a laptop for 8+ hours a day trying to get people to sign up is just as bad if not worse. When I wasn’t at work my kids got my undivided attention - when mummy is spending all her time posting on local selling sites and doing “training” her kids will end up ignored as well as missing out because mummy has to pay another £200 this month to stay qualified.

Apropos of nowt, I’m happy to see Bradfordbot has got herself a job in the care sector. Good for her. Organo clearly wasn’t the gold it made itself out to be.

Sackedbyariiix · 19/08/2018 20:27

I don’t Shame any woman making that choice I ran my cake business for 5yrs sacrifices a lot of time with my kids travelling the country teaching classes wedding season over the summer holidays was the worst! In my nursing career I missed out a lot with my kids leaving the house at 7am Not getting in till 7pm, after I lost my son my priorities changed I didn’t want to miss a minute and yes although I work more hours from home than I ever did at work I do it around my 5 kids I don’t miss sports days don’t need sick days and that was a big one with multiple kids at diff schools illnesses can last a couple of weeks it was really hard to manage working effectively and I felt like I was always compromised and always skint paying childcare to someone else to care for my kids...... like I say for me my priorities changed and I’d always been a fulltime working mum there is no shame in it it’s just a personal choice I never had any idea I could earn the kind of money I did it was just about replacing an income and being at home
