Spongebobette · 18/08/2018 12:09

This is the 42nd thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, TS Life, and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs
Over 90% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

Sackedbyariiix · 18/08/2018 22:50

@spongebobbette yes I will do that

Spongebobette · 18/08/2018 22:59

Well done

And welcome to any new readers. This thread exists to expose the poor business practice in network marketing, the lies, false promises, fakeness, outrageous health claims and income claims that MLM leaders use to hook you in.

@Sackedbyariix the truth is that over 99% of your downline were not making money. You may not have realised it, they may not even have admitted it to themselves, but it is the truth.

Because of the nature of MLM, and all of the focus on how you can be successful, the cars, the homes, the holidays, the success days, the big cheques and how anyone can do it, it takes a lot for someone to admit they failed.

Most who fail at an MLM will blame themselves, they didn't work harder enough, they weren't good enough, it was totally their fault. It's part of the MLM culture, you can make money if you work hard. When you fail you don't blab about it, and because it's been ingrained in you that the only way to fail is to not work hard enough, most don't realise it was the MLM, not them.

It is also extremely common that people just count what they have earned, like that extra £100 a month, without taking into account their expenses, including what they spent buying products. Most, if not all, of those bots under you talking about their extra £100 a month would have been losing money when expenses are taken into consideration.

Whiterangey · 18/08/2018 23:01

Just saw the link, that is awesome, welcome new readers and anyone who wants to comment.

Sackedbyariiix · 18/08/2018 23:03

No @whiterangey that’s just not true 99% we’re not making money is simply not factual!! Maybe 50% but they are for mixed reasons and not solely because of any one reason

Whiterangey · 18/08/2018 23:12

@SSDGM I know who you are talking about, the one who had the weightloss surgery. I'm torn about how I feel about her. She made a huge amount of money from encouraging her downline to frontload, left many of them in tens of thousands of dollars in debt. This was when you received bonuses based on what your downline bought from LLR. She likely earned close to a million when it was at it's height.

She only changed her mind when they changed the bonuses to be paid only when their downlines sold something and the Mentor's saw their bonuses drop considerably, in some cases close to nothing and in others they lost their title and bonuses completely. She was absolutely fine with everything when she was earning high 6 figures per year, and only had her epiphany when that went.

The weightloss surgery thing is totally disgusting and sickens me. So many have had it done, it's absolutely abhorrent. I dread to think how many have had complications that they have had to find someone in the US to correct. No counselling or post surgery support either.

Home after a rainy summer break in the N.W. The first thing I want to do is apologise to Sackedbyariiix for the comment I made on here regarding cancelling a holiday. I am a mother of 4 and I would be gutted if it happened to me, it was said in jest and I would never do such a thing. I hope by coming on this thread she realises that we are not all bitches out to hurt people, but to try to warn and save people from investing money they don't have to throw away in order to make a few £. I have had 3 friends on maternity leave get sucked into several NW companies and their behaviour has gone from normal to being completely brainwashed. I could not even have a decent chat with them without them asking about my weight, stopping smoking, or anything, they had a cure for every issue they thought I had. Once they realised I was not interested they totally shut me out, and that hurts as 1 of these people was a friend of mine for 23 years.

Sackedbyariiix · 19/08/2018 00:35

@ladiva1971 I very much appreciate the apologies unfortunately somebody did cancel my holiday and it did effect my life. I understand your points but it’s been stated I was made an example as a victim of mlm so I still regardless of the convo on this thread don’t understand why I became the centre of hate if you all agree I was also a victim of mlm? Why make that worse or cause me more pain? It’s a mystery I can only hope the police can give me an answer too. I think we all learned things about each other here

Whiterangey · 19/08/2018 02:19

Firstly the holiday, it was a really cruel thing for someone to do, and I hope you find out soon who it was, for your piece of mind. I think there is a chance you may find out before then. The person who did it likely bragged to someone, or even a group of people. It's more than possible that someone will tell you who it was before the police do.

I'm going to be honest here, you weren't treated as a victim of an MLM, you were treated as someone who had drawn thousands of women into MLM, thus harming them, we would see them as the victims, not you. You were the one who made lots of money, not the ones who were sold a dream and ended up out of cash and feeling like shit. You weren't a victim. The top bots, the ones who make all the money and recruit lots of people usually know exactly what they are doing, they know the outcome of the people they recruit, they know they have no chance to make money, they know what they are doing.

Which has led me to a lot of thinking today during our conversations. You do seem to be totally unaware of how many of your downline will have been earning nothing, and that a lot of them will have been losing money. You have argued against me, and others on that respect and been very insistent that we are wrong. You have linked to this thread on your public facebook, this thread contains many very informative and damning links against MLM's.

I can only speak for myself but I believe you truly were not aware of what happens to the people under you, and that I may have judged you unfairly. Dumped you in with all the other top bots who actually make the big money but who know exactly what they are doing and that each person they recruit is going to get hurt. I apologise for anything I may have said in previous threads with regards to what I assumed about you.

I do hope you stick around, read the links that have been shared, read some personal stories of some of those who have been at the bottom of the MLM pyramid and their experiences.

How does one find out who the top bots referred to in this thread are?

Sackedbyariiix · 19/08/2018 08:22

@whiterangey thank you for the apology. One thing I would like to say that you may shoot me down for is that in my experience not everyone who joins a mlm does so for money (genuinely) some join to be part of something (not a cult) but a group of women working for the same goal, they want to impress be their confidence in increase their social circle or help others and they see this a way and it really can be for some of them. I know you guys see this as reeling people in or using them or whatever term you guys use for it, but I’ve seen hundreds of genuine friendships made and hundreds of women feel better, improve their mental health and build confidence (yes I know some have that torn down if the upset or leave bots I’ve seen it) but for my own teams of course I’ve had people come and go from teams but for the most part we stayed friends I continued to help and support them in whatever path they chose, there are exceptions to every rule and I’ve had some ppl screw me over in the business (downline) too. I really am dedicated to trying to make a difference by teaching proper methods and helping women succeed in whatever way/area they want to be it financial, confidence, emotionally or professionally. I know the same can’t be said for many but this thread remains on my public page set to public so I’m pretty sure if anyone thinks or believes or can prove otherwise if me then we will see or hear about it.
Wishing you all a lovely Sunday

Sackedbyariiix · 19/08/2018 08:23

Improve themselves not impress 🙄

Authormummy · 19/08/2018 09:00

I thought i would give my opinion on this, as someone who has been in network marketing for 13 years.

When I started with Avon and annsummers at 18, I made quite a lot, I won't say I was one of those rolling around buying cars etc. However I did make enough for me and my son to love on and have extra left over.

Everything has changed since then, in 2011 I started my own business and pretty much stopped all mlm's. I restarted in 2013 and I can say it was four years of heartache.

Now I had never done it online, so my first company the diamond leader taught us what to do, and after a year of paying out £60 a month in autoshipments I got one say for £40 and realised the diamond leader was just getting me too spam while she did it right.

After that I got into a team who cared and I became friends with, but again there is so many companies, so many bad reviews getting those sighed up and buying is hard.

We got told that everyone can afford weightloss as it replaces meals yet no one could!

Anyway in December I stopped, after making about £200 In 3 years not including what I put in! I started writing and amazingly in the last 6 months I made more selling my own writing than I did in 5 years in network marketing.

There are people making it work though, I myself was before it went online, and those I know online a lot are making money but again a lot are not.

Spongebobette · 19/08/2018 09:35

Well done @authormoney

ArbunneHun · 19/08/2018 09:36

@Sacked you make a really good point about women and network marketing. Women are brilliant at building communities, supporting each other, celebrating each other’s successes. Women are often also left to unfairly support most of the care required by children or older/sick family members and there simply isn’t enough good flexible or home-based career options. These two reasons are why MLMs - almost always owned/managed by men - target women, especially mothers. MLM is a feminist issue: our own work ethic and networking skills are exploited to make rich men richer. And the lack of viable alternatives makes the MLM dream of earning a good income whilst staying home and caring for the children almost irresistible.

And what is most upsetting for me is hearing the stories of women who working in NWM, became emotionally invested in their teams & communities, only to be banished and excluded when they decided to leave. That’s so cruel. Their whole friendship group and support network ripped away from them because they couldn’t afford to lose more money.
