School uniform grants?

Does anyone know when the school uniform grants are paid? I'm panicking because there's only 3 weeks left before they start and I don't have the uniform yet...

I dont think all councils do them. Have you asked your local council ?

Yes I did I filled out the council form and also one with the school directly. Obviously they're closed now so can't talk to them

You need to apply to your local council it isn't a lot of money it's not enough to buy the whole uniform. I got it one year when I had a newborn and oh lost his job, it was only £35 which didn't go far for high school uniform.

Yes in our local authority is £25, only available to Yr 7 starters at secondary school, no other year groups. Wouldn't even cover the cost of a blazer.

Ring your local council to chase, they will still be open over the summer. But start looking into how/where to obtain stuff cheap or second hand, because I would guarantee the grant won't be anywhere near enough to actually get what you need.

OP have you tried posting in local selling boards / looks on eBay etc? I have a huge bag of DS’ school clothes that are next to brand new due to a growth spurt he had a month before school ended - all which no longer fit now (including school shoes)!!

My county has a uniform exchange scheme where they will accept second hand uniform donations and also provide uniform packs on an application basis - would it be worth having a look online to see if there’s any such scheme in your local area?
