Maternity Allowance Confusion

Hi,

I work as a midday assistant and I am 8 weeks pregnant, due in March 2019.

I know that I won't qualify for SMP but the rules for Maternity Allowance seem confusing. I have paid 14 years of NI with 3 a 3 year gap (SAHM) I earn £49 per week. Would I still qualify for Maternity Allowance?

I do plan on seeking advice from HRMC on Monday but I thought I'd ask here in case anyone has been in a similar situation.

Many Thanks

If you were employed for at least 26 weeks in the 66 weeks before your due date and earned at least £30 in 13 of the weeks then you should qualify.

The NI info applies to self employed mothers not those classed as employees

Thank you! That's how I read it but it didn't seem straight forward. Just worried as my husband is classed as earning enough so we can't get anything from the government
