Tax credits help please?!

Currently work 36 hours a week but as they are making cuts I am due to drop to 24 hours a week. Does anyone know how much this will affect the tax credits I get? I have 3 children and my dp who is currently out of work. I may have to look for another part time job to make up the hours, but would rather let the tax office know as soon as my hours do drop, jobs are rarer than hens teeth here at the minute!

Thanks

I would run the situation through the calculator. There is one on gov.co.uk And entitledto.com (could be .co.uk).

It helped my forward plan

Go onto the tax credits calculator on the gov website and put your new hours in, it will tell you how much you will get. Make sure you inform tax credits straight away

Thanks for the replies, off to the calculator now.

If your wages are now low enough to claim working tax credits then as long as you do at least 24 hours a week you will be ok but it must average 24 hours, they are quite strict on this.
