Any suggestions? Nephew and niece have loads of stuff for baby, what's the best way to contribute to savings for the child himself to have when he's older please?.

A lot of us will set up an account for a new baby we did for all 5 of our children which was in the name of the parent but in trust for the child - in our case we did it instant access as interest rates are pretty awful alll over anyway. Then all of our children did not touch that money until university stage. My twins are there now and have all those kind birthday money presents over the years ready to use. perhaps start by asking if they have opened a bank account for the child and they can send you the details or post them a cheque payable to the child which an awful lot of relatives still do by the way and that way it has to be paid into an account for the child and not siphoned off for the parents to spend on gin!

Thank you, yes, it turns out they will set up an account for the child and give me the bank details.
