Hi all not sure if I'm posting in the right place here but I was hoping to get people's experiences on applying for maternity allowance? I want to send my application off today but i don't have any pay slips Confused Can anybody tell me if they will accept bank statements as proof of my income? Tried ring in the helpline last night but I was on hold for so long I gave up!!! Thank you all in advance Smile

Why don't you have pay slips? Can you go back to your employer and ask for copies?

Bank statements won’t show tax/NI etc. Where are your payslips?

I've misplaced them in a house move. My employer are so slow at getting back with things it'll take weeks to get copies.

I sent in letters from people I cleaned for, plus bank statements to confirm and that seemed to be acceptable for them, got my maternity allowance

But then I was only earning £300 a month cleaning so under tax threshold

You can send bank statements because I never received pay slips and called to be sure. Just explain in the space in the application form for extra information and highlight your income on the bank statements so it is very clear for them. You need the correct amount of payments between the test period in the statements.
