How skint would you have to be before ditching your mobile phone?

DH and I spend around £80 per month on our mobiles. (combined bill)

I suggested binning them last night, but he nearly had a fit.

I do use mine a lot, but I can't believe my life would be so much different without it.

Might cut down to pay as you talk and limit our use.

yep, it IS a state of mind - used to pay about £50 per month!! Until I had a really good look at what I was doing...got a PAYG sim card, and now it's about £5 per month..just a bit of discipline and responsibility...and the thought my hard earned cash is going into a salesperson's bank/car/wardrobe/kitchen when it could be going into mine instead..

pay as you go and simply don't top up. that way you're contactable in emergancies and have access to emergancy services but no bills

dp hasn't topped up his in about 3+months and i haven't topped up mine in almost 2 months

Mine costs me £10 every 3 months or soon pay as you go with free texts

£80 extra a month woukd mean we coulkd pay off some debt rather than just minimum amounts

I used to have a contract phone many years ago, and becasuse you don't have to keep topping up I think you end up using it and don't realise how much you have done iyswim.

Pay as you go, it's simple if you have no money you can't use it. Also some deals like if you top up by £10 then you get 300 text messages free etc etc.

PAYG plus free texts? Sounds good
