Provisional car insurance

Sorry I didn't know what category to put this in!

My daughters driving test is in 5 weeks and I have just got her her first car. I would like to provisionally insure her car. However all the ones I can find is either 4 weeks or 8 weeks that are recognising her number plate. If I insure her car for 8 weeks and she passes in 5, does that mean that I cannot change the insurance once she has passed and I have to wait for it to run out? Sorry I'm a bit bad at all this technical and car stuff

Call them!
But insure yourself on the car as well (its cheaper if both of you are on it than just her).

I don't think you can insure a learner driver on their own. You'd need to put yourself on the insurance as the main driver and she can be the 2nd driver. Even if she passes insurance will be cheaper if she's the second driver of that car rather than the main driver.

Maybe check the detail of the policies?

The standalone policies for learners to drive a parents car, eg marmalade, all say that the policy expires as soon as the learner passes, regardless of how many weeks are left on the policy,
so it may be the same with the policies that you are looking at?
