Hey Guys
I will explain my situation. I have two kids, both are under 4yrs. I never claimed benefits of any kind. Just recently i started claiming child tax credits because of some family problems, i intend to leave my partner.
I want to ask now i am looking to start claiming housing benefits but how can i start claiming?
i am in the middle of of 3-4 councils so can i choose any council?
or i need to rent a house first and then claiming benefits?
and how can i tell council that i am separated from my married partner?
Please let me know if possible i asked some of my close family members but they don't know as well because they never claimed benefits, i am working in dad's business 24 hours a week.
Any help will be highly appriciated.
Thanks
Kind Regards

you will need to find a property first and then whatever local authority that address comes under then you will apply to that council. To claim housing benefit you will need a tenancy agreement.
