Tipping in the UK???

Hi all--Can someone tell me when you tip in the UK? Today the Ocado man came by, and while I thought you don't tip them, there was a small, but expectant moment (at least I thought there was) just as he was about to leave. Do you tip delivery people?

I dont think they are even allowed to accept tips. I never do anyway.
