Due to various things, I have had to cancel a ferry booking, a train booking and change/rebook some flights. In all cases refunds were promised, and confirmed by email. The refunds from Irish Ferries and SNCF (French trains) all came through no bother. For Stena and Expedia, after a week or so, I had to call and ask where's the refund? Was it coincidence that they both said, oh sorry, here it is, I will just process it now, it was pending. I am expecting to see both in the next few days, but what would have happened if I had not called? Has anyone else had something like this happen?
