Disabled and thinking of going to college to retrain

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone might have the answer to this thread.

I’m disabled and my mum gets carers allowance for assisting me everyday with personal care. I’m thinking of going back to college to retrain taking into account my physical disability of losing my leg and a weak arm. I’m worried if I do that my mum will lose the carers allowance even though she will still be caring for me a lot more than 35 hours a week. Please can someone help me as I can’t find the any answers on the web, thanks

It will not make any difference at all to the carers allowance, I don’t know why you would think it would.

Only because if I go to college and do a full time access course to then go to university I will lose the ESA benefits I get now and thought it might interfere with my Mum’s Carers allowance too.

No carers allowance is in relation to your pip/dla not your esa. You should still be able to claim ESA and study.
